Palisades Tahoe is living up to the hype of a “Miracle March” this season, with a staggering 183 inches of snowfall recorded so far this month—including 59 inches from the latest storm cycle alone.
The resort announced on Monday that its season total has now hit 326 inches, and with more snow in the forecast, winter is far from over. According to the Central Sierra Snow Lab, the region currently sits at 98% of its median snowfall as of March 18—a notable benchmark after a slow start to the winter.
While California’s snowpack has had its ups and downs this season, March has become a major turning point. Just a few weeks ago, the Sierra was tracking well below normal. Now, thanks to a series of cold, moisture-rich storms, much of that deficit has been erased.
Forecasters expect additional systems to move through the region in the coming weeks, which could push the snowpack past the seasonal average. For skiers, it means a longer season and better conditions. For water managers, it’s a step closer to replenishing reservoirs and easing drought concerns heading into spring.
With deep coverage, renewed backcountry access, and packed powder across the resort, Palisades Tahoe’s Miracle March is shaping up to be more than just a slogan—it’s the real thing.
