Mount Washington Alpine Resort Has Been Sold

Mount Washington Alpine Resort is located in Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.

According to Mount Washington Alpine Resort, all of the ski and recreational operations have been sold as of Tuesday November 3rd. The alpine resort has been purchased by the Pacificย Group Resortsย Inc. (PGRI), a resort holding company headquartered in Park City, Utah. Theย holding group bought theย ski and recreation operations, along with theย majority of the development land near and around the base of the alpine resort. George Stewart and his ownership group were the previous owners, they invested not only money, but time to make this resort what it is today. Theyย agreed to the deal, while retaining possession of two prime development parcels. George Stewart and his ownership groupย have been the owners of Mount Washington Alpine Resort for the past 25 years.

โ€œOver the past 25 years, George Stuart and his ownership group have invested a tremendous amount of money and energy into Mount Washington,โ€ noted Peter Gibson, president and general manager of Mount Washington Alpine Resort.

The Pacific Resorts Group Inc. hopes to build a community out of Mount Washington.

The Pacific Group Resorts Inc. currently owns four resorts including; Wintergreen Resort, Wisp Resort, Ragged Mountain, and now Mount Washington. These four resorts are located in the eastern United States and they are known for having virtually 100% snowmaking coverage. The group has been working with George Stewart for a couple of years now to transfer the ownership of the resort. David Fischer and his associates look to focus on the skiing aspect of the resort and build a community out of it. Luckily, George Stewart and his ownership group laid a great foundation for the Pacific Group Resorts Inc. to enhance the experience at Mount Washington Alpine Resort. The group has 30+ years of experience in real estate and management including building the base villages of Copper Mountain in Colorado and Solitude in Utah.

Mount Washington Alpine Resort receives a ton of snow each year, about 38 feet on average. The ski area has 1700 acres to explore and 5 lifts to do so. Mount Washington offers beautiful views, including the Pacific Ocean on one side and the scenic Strathcona Park bordering the other. The ski area is knownย forย receiving the most amount of snow inย Canada.ย Winter is notย the only season that this resort is in operation, they also offerย a great venue for hikers and alpine enthusiasts in the summer. Mount Washington is very close to the densely populated Comox Valley. The ski area offers great recreational experiences for skiers, hikers, and alpine enthusiasts and with plans to expandย in the coming years, the future is bright for this resort.
