New Zealand Resorts are wrangling warmer than hoped-for temperatures as opening dates for skiing and snowboarding inch nearer.

Mount Hutt, intending to open for operations today, opted to instead to look to tomorrowโ€”which allows snowmaking experts to continue to work their magic.

To the south, Cardrona Alpine Resort reports intention to open a portion of ski able terrain tomorrow, June 15.

Other mainstay South Island ski areas, Treble Cone and Ohau Snowfields are working double-time in preparation for season openers on June 28 and 29, respectively.

Turning to epic North Island terrain, mighty Turoa reports an opening date at end-June while Whakapapa opens in stages. Happy Valley is projected to open late June, Upper Mountain by mid-July.
