A recent post shared on Newschoolers website and to Instagram revealed some very exciting news regarding its future. After 25 years making waves in the ski industry, Newschoolers will once again be operating independently. Professional athletes, snow-sports brands, and skiers from all over the world filled the comment section with congratulations and elation.
For the last few years, the central focus for those now in charge has been on Newschoolers Originals episodes on YouTube. Looking ahead, their goal was to continue on that same path. The driving question was how?
Now under the guidance of the Arena Group, โan innocative technology platform and media company that transforms media brandsโ, it will be easier for Newschoolers to operate exactly how they want to. With this hands off approach, Newschoolers will have the freedom to create with extra technical solution, distribution, and monetization support from the Arena Group. Powder Magazine, Bike Mag, and Transworld Skateboarding are a few other well-known names under the same Arena Group umbrella.
โWeโre very happy to work with the Newschoolers team to return the brand to its roots. It is the best place for Newschoolers to end up. We look forward to seeing this team stand on their own again,โ said Natasha Cholerton-Brown, General Manager of Adventures for Arena Group.
The Newschoolers skiing community has played a pivotal role in shaping, growing, and ย forming connections within ski-culture since 1999. From forums and discussion threads to user-uploaded pictures and videos, gear guides and reviews to events, ski enthusiasts young and old, new and vetted have flocked to Newschoolers for years. Then in 2007, they sold to a corporate company. For many years following, they were involved in numerous mergers and acquisitions. Now, 17 years later, Newschoolers is independently operating, back in the hands of the skiers, and looking forward to what the future holds.
Although itโs currently the heart of summer, I have to imagine the original team is once again cooking up some awesome content and event plans for the winter. Follow along on Newschoolers Instagram page!
