After about 17 days of sunny, hot weather, NOAA is calling for 1-2 feet of liquid precipitation for Lake Tahoe, CA next Wednesday and THrusday. ย 1-2 inches of liquid precipitation equates to about 1-2 feet of snow.
“After an extended mild and dry period, we will finally see a winter storm impact the Sierra and northwest Nevada Wednesday into Thursday. Exact snow amounts are uncertain at this time due to the rapid progression of the storm and very warm air ahead of it, but liquid totals in the Sierra look to be 1 to 2 inches. The important thing to note is that snow levels will crash behind the cold front Wednesday night with rapidly deteriorating conditions in the Sierra likely.” – NOAA Reno, NV today
Snow levels will start high, around 8,000-feet before dropping fast to 5,000.
Winds will be blowing up to 100mph on the ridges on Wed-Thurs.
