The NOAA has issued a winter weather advisory for the storm system that will impact Central California through tonight.ย Mammoth Mountain could see total snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches. Isolated amounts up to 18 inches are expected in the Southern Sierra Nevada above 7,000 feet. The majority of this precipitation will fall from 4 AM PST until 4 PM PST Wednesday afternoon.
WHAT...For the Winter Weather Advisory Wednesday, snow accumulations 2 to 4 inches with up to 6 inches along and west of Highway 395. For the Winter Storm Watch this weekend, heavy snow is expected with snow accumulations of 3 to 12 inches east of Highway 395, and 1 to 3 feet west of Highway 395. The quick snowstorm will add to the massive amounts already seen in the Sierra Nevada last weekend, before another huge system bringing 1-3 FEET of fresh snow hits at the weekend.
Temperatures will remain in the low 20s, with light winds through Thursday.
Mammoth Mountain has had 73″ of snow so far this season, the majority coming last week. The base at the summit is 55″ and the resort is open top-to-bottom. As you can see in the video below, conditions are pretty sweet right now.
Weather permitting, lifts this week are chairs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11 and G1 & G2. Fromย Saturday the resort plan to open Canyon Lodge / Eagle Lodges and the entire mountain to skiing and snowboarding.
