November is an exciting month in the USA. Fall is in full swing, ski resorts are opening left and right, and the stoke for winter runs very high.
November is the month that we return to skiing and riding and once again, discover how out of shape for ski season we are… Big snowfall, big hype, big stoke, and low crowds define November in the USA. Hope is large in November as the winter still holds every possibility…
NOAA issued, then canceled, then re-issued a La Nina Watch on October 13th, 2016. La Nina usually follows the pattern shown below which is great for the Pacific Northwest.
NOAA’s PRECIPITATION OUTLOOK FOR NOVEMBER:
- Above average precipitation in northern Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, & northern Wyoming.
- Below average precipitation if forecast for southern California, southern Nevada, southern Utah, southwest Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, and the southern tier of the country in general.
NOAA’s TEMPERATURE OUTLOOK FOR NOVEMBER:
- Above average temperatures are forecast all over the entire USA except the Oregon, Washington, northwest California, northern Idaho, and northwest Montana.
- Below average temperatures are forecast nowhere.
I’m not believing the re-issued La Nina watch. Current status is neutral and El Nino/la Nina is normally very stable between Sept/Oct and Feb/Mar, which is the reason it’s often a useful prediction tool.
