Three days ago, I dislocated my left shoulder.
I got it back in within three minutes.
I didn’t hurt much, and I seem to have recovered quickly.
After taking 2 days off, I decided to go ski a couple of mellow laps today.
KT held wet but fun snow.
The snow on Headwall was a touch better.
I had to keep my left arm close to my body, but I could pole-plant close to normal.
Fox took us over to Broken Arrow, and the sun came out.
We skied a beautiful chute and started stepping out a windlip jump they’ve been hitting a lot lately.
I watched Hunter, Nick, and Fox throw perfect backflips.
I couldn’t resist…
I spooled up and sent it, knowing I had to land on my feet…
I visualized it, took my time, and was able to put it right to my feet.
I was beyond fired up!
I then went into CII bowl and hit a little cliff I’d been eyeing to see how my shoulder would do with that sort of skiing.
It did alright, and I headed into the cookie shop (Wildflour) to carouse with the boys.
After a few laughs with them, I headed to the doctor in Truckee for an exam.
The physician’s assistant gave me a litany of range of motion tests and concluded that my rotator cuff was intact.
She also found that my labrum was sensitive and potentially damaged.
I’ll be headed to Reno next week for an MRI to find out exactly what’s going on in there.
Fingers crossed for good news.
After the hospital, I met up with an old Cal Ski Team buddy and his boy, and we had a couple of beers, a few laughs, and a burrito at Tacos Jalisco.
Thanks to our ski crew out there today, and thanks, California!
