Gravity Logic and the Solitude Bike Park team have been making progress on a series of new downhill mountain bike trails off of Moonbeam Express at Solitude Mountain Resort, UT. Last year, after a month long site visit, Gravity Logic designed five years worth of trail building at Solitude Mountain. The actual trails are being built by staff from Solitude with some support from local building companies.ย Several technical and freeride trails are being built at the moment and the first phase of trail building is currently underway at Solitude Bike Park. These new trails are scheduled to be ready to ride Friday, September 8, 2023.
Solitude will unveil the first phase of trails in the new Solitude Bike Park designed by Gravity Logic. Gravity Logicย was created in 2007 by the team who helped build the Whistler Mountain Bike Park โ the Worldโs number 1 Bike Park. The Solitude Bike Park will feature four trails ranging from green circle (easier) to black diamond (most difficult). These new downhill trails will be accessed via Moonbeam Express.
โWe’re really confident that the terrain here is really nice, with lots of big tree islands, there is lots of really good dirt. There is something here for the beginner, something for the intermediate, but then of course, you know, here in Salt Lake City area there’s tons of expert riders so we know we’ve got to put something on the ground right off the bat that’s going to excite those expert riders as well.โ
Shawn Beaudoin, Gravity Logic Project Manager
The first phase adds six miles of new trails and consists of a green freeride trail, a blue freeride trail, a blue technical trail, and a black technical trail. All four trails will be accessed via Moonbeam Express. Trail work will continue this fall and over the next few summers. Donโt worry about schlepping your gear. High-quality Trek and Norco bike rentals for kids and adults are available at The Moonbeam Base Area.
Moonbeam, Sunrise, and Link chairlifts operate Friday through Sunday. Trails will be closed Monday through Thursday as trail building continues. The use of e-bikes currently is not permitted at Solitude. Helmets are required on lifts, trails, and during lessons for all biking activities at Solitude. Check the Mountain Report daily for updated lift and trail status. Conditions are expected to remain dynamic throughout the summer as trail building continues, and we replace Eagle Express.
If you are new to mountain biking or want to improve your skills, Solitude also offers mountain bike lessons for participants age 9 and up and can deliver coaching on basic fundamentals, advanced techniques, and everything in between.
