The first big dump of winter 18-19 is on the ground in the Alps, with the border of Italy/Switzerland getting the lion’s share.
Snowfall totals in the Alps over the weekend have now exceeded 3-feet at Passo Stelvio in Italy. Austrian glaciers like the Hintertuxer Gletscherย are at 2-feet so far โ and thereโs still more in the forecast the next couple of days.
The snow cover has grown considerably grown over the past 2 days, from nothing to about 20-35″, and even up toย 60″ in areas.
Tignes, France has been open a couple of weeks, but most resorts in the Alps don’t often open until well into November, and often December. After last years epic snowy winter, hopefully, this storm is a teaser of what’s coming?!
