The first flakes of the year fell on Jackson, Wyoming, and surrounding mountain ranges today, a harbinger that winter is slowly approaching. Those early risers in Jackson Hole were treated to a dusting on the high peaks on Monday, August 26. A rainstorm late Sunday, combined with cooler overnight temperatures, left the Teton and Gros Ventre ranges crowned with fresh snow caps this morning. Jackson Hole-based photographer Dakota Levy captured a snowy scene from the JHMR aerial tram this morning on his Instagram.
While true winter conditions are still some time off, expect a few scattered thunderstorms on Monday, followed by a week of sunnier skies and milder weather. With September 1 rapidly approaching, ski season is already less than three months away.
