“The ‘fresh’ was some of the heaviest Sierra cement I’ve ever skied. Got better once it was skied up a bit. Saw tons of people falling, especially early on when they ventured into the untouched. Overall, pretty fun for a 2.5 hour ski day. Also, sounded like Chinese New Year with all the bombs going off.” – Guy LaDouche

Squaw had 20″ of new snow as of Wednesday morning and 30″ of snow as of this morning. ย They have now gotten 323″ of snowfall this season.

Squaw opened only Squaw Creek, Red Dog, and Far East yesterday beginning at 1:18pm.

As of 10:30am today, Squaw only has Gold Coast and Shirley Lakes open on the upper mountain. ย They’re trying to get more open up there but winds have been consistently gusting into the 60mph range since 1am today.

Yesterday was a crazy one in Tahoe with an avalanche burying Alpine Meadows 5-feet deep, burying 2 cars and damaging a home in the process. ย 3 people were rescued by firemen from their buried cars.
