Report from February 6-7, 2024
Revelstoke, British Columbia, is perhaps the most glorious place on earth and a place we’ve been dreaming about since we were last here. Our return to the hallowed slopes was heralded by several centimeters of snow and a storm day. Revelstoke has seen 556 cm (219 inches) of snowfall this season, so it was promising to be a great couple of days.
The main gondola at Revy is surpassingly steep. It climbs 2,952 vertical feet in just under 1.5 miles. The terrain under it is a mixture of steeps, cliffs, and very steep trees. On a deep day, floating there is magical; on other days, the experience can be harrowing. Unfortunately, during this visit, the majority of terrain under the gondola was closed. Thatโs unfortunately the nature of the beast, but with more snow in the forecast, we hope it will be open again soon. Thankfully, there are plenty of other bowls to frolic in!
The different sections of the resort skied like different resorts entirely. Most of Stoke had healthy amounts of fresh snow on a harder base. The snow at the Ripper was great for the top half while the lower half was getting sticky as the day went on, but all in all fantastic conditions.
The weather forecast has another 23 cm (9 inches) on the horizon for the next few days but for now we will remember the spray of yesterday.
We donโt want to leave this snow paradise but, alas, back to work it is.
