Shawnee Mountain, Pennsylvania, is a beloved destination for skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts in the Poconos. It continues to remain family-focused and family-owned. It is also one of the ski resorts in Pennsylvania that typically opens early in the season. This weekend, many Pennsylvania resorts opened for the first time for the 2024-25 season; Shawnee was one of those.
The resort gave away a free lift ticket to the first 10 people in the lift line this morning for opening day. It also offered season pass holders an extra discount on opening day. Shawnee opened with five trails and plans to open two more tomorrow, depending on how much snow the mountain can make today and tonight.

Shawnee Mountain has some new features for the 2024-25 season:
- 3rd & 4th Grade Pass: This is a special offer for 3rd and 4th graders from any school and state. With a paid adult lift ticket, children in these grades receive three complimentary ski or snowboard visits, valid midweek or after 3 p.m. on weekends and holidays.
- Lodging Packages: The historic Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort is now offering convenient lodging packages that include snow tubing, group lessons, or private lessons, simplifying the purchasing process for guests.
- Shawnee Mountain Renewable Energy Initiative: This program focuses on sustainability initiatives through an innovative wind energy agreement with ENGIE, upgrading energy-efficient snowmaking equipment, and implementing eco-friendly practices throughout the resort.
- Special Discounts: Tickets are discounted for college students, active-duty military members, and seniors ages 65 to 69. Additionally, seniors ages 70+ ski for free, as do children under 46” tall. Shawnee Mountain is dedicated to making the slopes accessible for all and ensuring everyone can enjoy our winter wonderland.
- Free Parking: Shawnee Mountain maintains its commitment to affordability by offering free parking to all guests, eliminating hidden fees, and providing a hassle-free experience from arrival.
