A significant fire broke out on Saturday night at the Okemo Trailside Condominiums slopeside at Okemo Mountain Resort in Ludlow, Vermont. The blaze began around 8:55 p.m. and quickly engulfed multiple units, causing extensive damage but remarkably resulting in no injuries.
The Ludlow Fire Department was initially dispatched for a reported chimney fire at 60 Okemo Trailside Extension. Within minutes, the situation escalated, prompting a first and later a second alarm, bringing in mutual aid from surrounding towns.

Firefighters arrived on the scene at 9:12 p.m. to find units 7A and 7B fully involved. The fire spread to the basement and roof of Unit C, while Unit D sustained smoke damage. Crews worked tirelessly to contain the blaze and protect nearby structures for over three hours.
The fire destroyed two condominium units and left a third heavily damaged. The affected building, a three-story wood frame structure with finished walk-out basements, lacked a commercial fire alarm or sprinkler system.

Fire investigators from the Vermont Division of Fire Safety and Vermont State Police Fire Investigation Unit determined the fire originated in the chimney chase of unit A and was deemed accidental.
All 13 occupants, including adults and children, escaped unharmed.
There has been no official comment from Okemo Mountain Resort, but it is unlikely that the fire will impact 2024-25 operations in any way.
