After a windy, cold, and dry early January, snow started falling during the MLK holiday weekend. Since that initial foot, northern Vermont has been repeatedly blanketed by fast moving fronts generating up slope snow. The few large storms to hit New England this winter have been coastal, and deposited underwhelming amounts of snow in northern Vermont. Regardless, due to the persistent cold weather, the snow coverage all over northern Vermont is substantial. The backcountry is amazing and untracked powder is still abundant in-bounds due to the rapid pace of storms this winter. We have even had a few surprise dumps such as the one last Thursday dropping over a foot of powder on Smuggs overnight.

ย

24 hour snowfall: 1-2 inches

7 day snowfall: 32 inches

base depth: ย 36-65 inches

season total: 182 inches

UPCOMING WEATHER

ย

Cold is the name of the game. It is almost too cold for too much more snow. We will have a few flurries throughout the long weekend and into next week, but nothing to huge. The snow that has already fallen though will stay great with the cold temps.
