Today was spectacular.
Most forecasts were calling for around 8 inches overnight. I was slightly more optimistic, but still reluctant to text my friends that it would be a crazy day.
I woke up this morning, put on my boots for the first time as a 16-year-old, checked the snow report. 11 inches at mid-mountain.
However, at the top and with wind-loading, I measured the new snow depth at about 18 inches. It was spectacular skiing, powder with no end. Face shots every turn, and fortunately, it hardly got tracked out at all. My friend Levi and I lapped the Hanging Valley all day.
We skied hard all day, from 9 am to 4 pm. We’ll be lined up ready for the first chair tomorrow, things will be just as good.
Today was a surreal way to kick off my 16th year on earth!
