Report from May 22nd, 2019

Yesterday very likely was the very last powder day of the season for Squaw Valley, CA and it was a doozy.

Granite Chief was skiing well enough for people to huck 25-foot cliffs – Glory Rock.

We had a blast lapping Hogsback via the Siberia chair.

Squaw reported only 2″ of snow overnight, but it skied a lot better than that.

Visibility was very low due a low hanging cloud that did finally lift a bit at about 1pm.

Squaw has simply been unreal the past week.

The storm cycle we experienced this week would have been stellar in any month of the year.

I’m calling it right now:ย  Best Season Ever.

Squaw saw 715″ of snow this season making it their 3rd snowiest winter on record!

Snowiest season on record was 2011 with 811″.

2nd snowiest season on record was 2017 with 735″.

Squaw Valley will be open daily until May 27th then Fri-Sun only until July 7th.

Granite Chief top today.

We’ve truly enjoyed big winter in late May but we gotta say at this point…ย  BRING ON SPRINGTIME!
