Report from 16th January 2020 – Brought to you by Visit Reno Tahoe
Sugar Bowl’s Instagram video for the day, captioned “Complete whiteout right now!” was spot on! The storm rolled in around 10 am this morning and it hit hard causing some lifts to go on and off of wind hold. I stuck to 2 lifts that stayed open all day and had some solid runs down those. The secret is to find some sheltered spots in the trees that collect windblown snow to get fresh turns at the beginning of the storm.
One benefit of a storm? No lines!ย I finished off my day with a few laps down the nicely built terrain park and the snow was nice and soft in there.
Regardless of today, tomorrow is going to be epic. Per tomorrow’s forecast, the storm is supposed to clear out by 10 am and winds die down too. It’ll be an awesome weekend!!!
“And so it begins. Clouds are rolling in fast overhead, temperatures are cold, and the stoke is high. Nothing is coming down yet but itโs only a matter of time. Expect storm conditions throughout the day, with heavy snowfall and strong winds. We could see as much as 2 Ft of accumulation before the weekend hits!” – Sugar Bowl snow report morning of 1/16
An accurate snow report, it has been dumping all day! And a few snapshots from Sugar Bowl Webcams from this afternoon since I was FREEZING and couldn’t muster the strength to take my gloves off to snap some of my own.
