With the North American skiing and riding season coming to a close my mind starts to drift toward a summer filled with epic waves and fast single track lines. Only this year, due to the decision to further my education in a state land locked, it will be single track lines and skate sessions to try and attempt to fill the void in my heart due to the lack of waves. I have some SoCal trips planned, but it will not be the same as my previous 3-4 days a week surf sessions in Santa Cruz that I had previous summers.
With that I have been looking for many sources of stoke to carry my through the lack of waves in my life and came across this article on child prodigy Noah Beschen. A super inspiring story and something to use as motivation to go out and progress in my own surfing. The story has allย ย the ingredients of a surfing prodigy, father was a big time pro, grew up in the Mecca of surfing (North Shore of Oahu) and with this had some of the best surfing in the world at his back door from a young age.
We at Swell Brains really like to see young kids progressing in action sports and hope this trend continues. In this day and age kids are mentored and coached from a very young age in allot of yourย โtraditionalโย sports like football and baseball in hopes of getting a college scholarship and/or going pro. This is great but at the same time many of us would argue the fact that when kids progress in sports such skiing and surfing its 100 percent there effort and hard work unlike team sports. We hope this gives everyone some stoke and motivation to paddle out and shred some swells.
