Sierra Nevada, CA Alpine Conditions Report:

Quick update to our last report on July 1, as things in the high country are changing quite rapidly. As we have been reporting, the Sierra remains in a steady stream of daily thunderstorm activity from monsoonal air flow and warm, moist air rising that condenses clouds, resulting in precipitation and electrical activity. Squaw/Alpine Conditions Report: Just Hanging In There…

Yesterday at Squaw Valley was rough. Cold, windy, bumpy, not much groomed, hard, and very little snow. I’d skied Squaw 3 days earlier and it’s amazing how much snow we lost in those three days. The park was holding up well, though. I saw Tanner Hall (at least I think it was him) throwing front flips and 720’s like they were nothing. Shirely lake was skiing OK and Siberia was pretty brutal. I wasn’t brave enough to try Granite Chief. Mountain Run is now melted out and closed so we’re downloading the rest of the season. […]
