6 Skiers Die in French Avalanche | Deadliest Avalanche in France in 8-Years It is being report that skiers which consisted of four men and two women aged between 58 and 73 were hiking and skiing when they were swept to their deaths by a large avalanche. This incident happened early in the morning on January 25th, 2015 in the Queyras mountain range which is close to the border with Italy. This accident brings the avalanche death total in the Alps to 17 this winter. The Alps average about 30 skier/snowboarder deaths per year.
