NOAA has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Washington today calling for 8-12″ of snow above 3,000-feet.ย 

Mt. Baker ski area just got 8″ of snow last night and now they’ll be waiting on 8-12 more tonight.

NOAA is forecasting 8-12″ of snow tonight and tomorrow for the Cascade mountains of Washington.ย  Snow levels will drop as low as 3,000-feet with this storm.ย  Mt. Baker ski area lives between 3,000 and 5,000 feet.

AREAS PRONE TO COLD EAST WINDS FROM THIS EVENING THROUGH THURSDAY

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SEATTLE HAS CANCELLED THE WINTER
WEATHER ADVISORY.

* ICE ACCUMULATION...ABOUT A HALF TO THREE QUARTERS OF AN INCH OF
  FREEZING RAIN IS LIKELY IN THE PASSES AND THOSE AREAS PRONE TO
  COLD EASTERLY WINDS BY LATE THURSDAY AFTERNOON.

* SNOW ACCUMULATION...8 TO 12 INCHES IS LIKELY ABOVE THE 3000
  FOOT LEVEL BY LATE THURSDAY AFTERNOON.

* SOME AFFECTED LOCATIONS...STEVENS PASS AND SNOQUALMIE PASS.

* TIMING...PRECIPITATION WILL INCREASE THIS EVENING AND BECOME
  LOCALLY HEAVY AT TIMES LATE TONIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING.
  THE PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO FALL AS MOSTLY FREEZING RAIN IN
  SNOQUALMIE PASS BEFORE CHANGING OVER TO JUST RAIN LATE THURSDAY
  MORNING. SNOW WILL CHANGE OVER TO A PERIOD OF FREEZING RAIN IN
  STEVENS PASS THURSDAY AFTERNOON.

* MAIN IMPACT...SIGNIFICANT ACCUMULATIONS OF ICE CAN SNAP TREE
  BRANCHES AND DOWN POWER LINES. TRAVEL IN THE PASSES TONIGHT
  THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING MAY BECOME DANGEROUS DUE TO ICY ROADS.
