Monday was the 2nd day of my 2024 Alaska heli-ski season.
The day started cloudy and slowly started clearing.
By 1:30pm, we were in the air.

We bumped out to the Shoup Glacier, a place I spent 1 month camping and skiing with a buncha crazy Aussies back in 2014.
Huge glacier.
Gorgeous zone.
I can see my house from here! Valdez, AK. image: snowbrains
We started off on an island in the glacier (nunatak).
A cruiser run to warm up.
We then got into some spice after Mike opened up a stellar north-facing run off the island.

The sluff was running long and fast.
I set the right boundary of the run and ended up on a horribly fun nose right down the glacier floor.
I felt like I was floating on the rollovers and small air.

The snow was impeccable.
We skied 2 more runs in the zone and headed home just as the clouds rolled back in.
2 heli days in my 1st 2 days here felt great.
Thanks, Alaska!
