In the above video, climbing superstar Alex Honnold discusses the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics and the changes in the climbing format. Climbing debuted in the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 and will be included in the LA Olympics 2028. This year, the format includes separate medals for speed climbing, lead climbing, and bouldering, making competitors happier as they can focus on their preferred styles. The speed climbing category, a head-to-head event, is expected to see records fall with world record holders competing, and the current men’s record is 4.85 seconds. The bouldering and lead competitions will feature familiar names like Adam Ondra, Jakob Schubert, and Alex Megos, with Janja Garnbret favored for the women’s side.
