Just when you think you have seen it all, something comes along that takes you by surprise: here is an amusing video of the annual Barrys Bay Cheese Rolling at Broken River Ski Area in New Zealand.
Broken River is located in the Canterbury region and is one of New Zealandโs many club ski areas that are operated and maintained by club members. While it is a club ski area, the ski fields are open to the public but not run for profit.
Each year, the resort holds its Barrys Bay cheese rolling, where participants run down the snowy slopes after a large 3-kilogram (6.6-pound) cheese wheel. With prizes for the best dressed, the event is always a highlight on the Broken River season calendar. 40 adults registered for the mad cheese dash, and many young children joined in.
Proceeds of this fun event go to Protect Our Winters New Zealand as well as the Kea Conservation Trust.
