A series of storm systems is set to bring significant snowfall to many ski resorts across the Western United States over the next week. The forecast indicates heavy snow for Jackson Hole, the Wasatch Range, the Colorado Rockies, and parts of the Pacific Northwest.
Utah’s Wasatch Range, including Alta, is anticipating 18 inches of snow, with additional accumulation from subsequent storms. Snowfall is expected to begin tonight and continue through tomorrow, accompanied by strong winds.
Colorado’s central and northern mountains could see 10 to 20 inches of snow, while the southwest may receive 8 to 12 inches. The Pacific Northwest is forecasted to receive even more substantial snowfall, with some areas potentially seeing 2 to 4 feet of accumulation.
The Northeast, which has been experiencing warmer temperatures and rain, may see improved conditions with moderate to heavy snow accumulations possible around March 20-21. This could bring up to 12 inches of snow to some resorts in the region.
Looking Ahead
After this active period of snowfall, a high-pressure system is expected to build into the Western U.S. between March 23-28. This will likely bring warmer temperatures and a break in the snowfall for about a week.
