Italian ski racer Sofia Goggia has returned to on-snow training for the first time in four months. The skier had fractured her right lower leg lastย February 2024 while training in Ponte di Legno Tonale, Italy. The speed specialist had caught her inside ski in a gate on a right turn while training for the World Cup in Soldeu, Andorra, sending the ski racer flying. She had the fracture surgically fixed in the Madonnina Clinic in Milan, Italy. The compound fracture was set with a rod and seven screws.
Goggia had planned to return to the snow in July, so her return now in late June is a couple of weeks earlier than anticipated. The Olympic Gold and Silver medallist in Downhill shared the joyful video of her return to skiing on her social media accounts, and it was quickly picked up by Italian news and the International Ski and Snowboard Federation.
โFour months later โฆ the first turns!! Letโs proceedโฆ No hurry but no rest โฆ Fighting spirit!! It will take timeโฆ calm and patience, itโs already so incredibly much to be on the snow today! .. and a feeling of gratitude for my supporters and those who have put up with me.โ
