A look at the week ahead and into October 1. Storm track shifts north to favor Canada, BC, PNW. High snow levels above 10,000ft.
- Current Conditions: Colorado experienced its first significant snowfall of the season, particularly in high peaks. Beautiful fall colors were visible at lower elevations. The snow level was around 10,000 feet.
- Storm Track: The storm track is shifting northward, primarily affecting British Columbia and the Pacific Northwest. High snow levels are expected in these regions, with rain at lower elevations.
- Jet Stream Forecast: The jet stream favors Canada, concentrating most precipitation there. A potential dip in the jet could bring some low-pressure systems to Montana and Wyoming.
- Precipitation Outlook: The forecast indicates dry conditions for the Intermountain West, with sunny skies in states like Montana, Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado. Most precipitation will occur in Canada and BC, with high-elevation snowfall expected above 10,000 feet.
- Snow Accumulation: Significant snow accumulation is projected for high elevations in BC, but lower areas will likely see rain instead.
