U.S. Freeskier Troy Podmilsak landed a world-first trick in competition today, October 18, at the World Cup in Chur, Switzerland. The trick is so new that there is no name for it yet. Podmilsak’s coach calls it a left-flat-360-right-pretzel-720, and the highlight of this trick is the rotation change Podmilsak does in midair. When asked to name his new trick, Podmilsak replied, “I don’t really know, to be honest, there are hundreds of different names you could call it…The Berco Flip, Dean Bercovitch, he made this trick.” Dean Bercovitch is a Canadian Freeskier who competed in Big Air and Slopestyle from 2012-2017. U.S. Aerial Skier Chris Lillis was quick to chime in on the discussion on Instagram, jokingly suggesting a โ€œLay Fullโ€ (an aerial straight jump).

Podmilsak is the defending Big Air World Champion after winning the World Championships in March 2023 in Bakuriani, Georgia, with the worldโ€™s first triple-cork-2160. Nicknamed โ€˜T-Pod,โ€™ the Park City native ended the competition in Chur in eighth after initially being on track for the podium. Unfortunately, he did not stomp his first and third runs, resulting in only 115.25 total points (the best two of three runs count in the final).
