The Whistler Bike Park is world-famous for a good reason. From the terrain to the meticulously crafted trails, it is top-notch.ย
My boys and I were eager to take some laps after having ridden the park last year during our family vacation.
We arrived early, before the 10 a.m. opening, and were first in line.ย
Luckily, they let us on the updated Fitzsimmons chair at 9:45.ย
We headed straight to Crank It Up for our first two laps, followed by B-Line, both intermediate freeride jump trails.ย
It had rained the week before our visit, and the trails were in prime condition: no dust or mud, just perfect tacky dirt.ย
The lines at the bottom were starting to get moderate, so we took the Garbanzo lift and went down the Una Moss trail to the Creekside part of the park.ย
I had never been to the Creekside area, as it is the newest part of the park. However, it has the purists’ single track on the mountain, with more trails planned in the future. Iโm also told there is rarely ever a line at the bottom.ย
Riding through the lush green forests and cascading creeks on Midgard, Southpark, and Earth Circus was breathtaking in scenery and adrenaline.ย
At the bottom, we had lunch at Dustyโs Bar & BBQ, which was delicious. Normally, lunch wouldn’t get so much attention, and I don’t have a picture, but my Southwest chicken salad was incredible, and my boys enjoyed their burger and fish and chips.ย
After lunch, it was back to the Fitzsimmons side for more fun on trails like Blueberry Bathtub, C-More, and another lap on Crank It Up.ย
Somehow, my youngest snapped his shifter cable, and his bike was stuck in his hardest gear. He could still take some additional laps before the fine folks at Garbanzo Bike & Bean could quickly fix it with a new cable.ย
Even though the park stayed open until 8 p.m., we called it a day around 3:30 p.m. since we were all hot and tired.ย
So many berms, so many jumps, and so much fun. The trail builders in Whistler really know what they are doing.ย ย
What a great day!ย
