The New York Olympic Regional Development Authority (Olympic Authority) announces that Whiteface Mountain in Wilmington will open to season passholders on Friday, November 15, with a special Passholder Appreciation Day.

Thanks to colder temperatures, the crew at Whiteface fired up their snowmaking systems on November 8 and began laying down a thick base with the help of some limited natural snow at higher elevations. With nighttime temperatures dropping in recent days, the crew was able to establish a solid base lower on the mountain, enabling terrain to open earlier than originally anticipated from the summit to the top of the Face Lift.

The Face Lift and Summit Quad will open at 10:00 a.m., with the Face Lift closing at 3:00 p.m. and the last chair up the Summit Quad at 3:30 p.m. Riva Ridge, Paronโ€™s Run, Ilmarโ€™s Alley, Lower Northway, and Summit Express are anticipated to be groomed and open. All skiers & riders will need to download on the Face Lift down the lower mountain to the base lodge.

Guests should anticipate early season conditions with skiing and riding on intermediate and advanced terrain only. Beginner terrain will not be available on opening weekend.

Food and beverage services will be limited but available throughout the opening weekend at the Base Lodgeโ€™s Cloudspin Bar & Grill. Additionally, the Brookside Apparel retail store and the rental and ski and board tuning shop will be open this opening weekend. Private lessons for intermediate and above skiers and riders are available by reservation.

SKI3 and Whiteface season passes can be purchased at whiteface.com at a discounted rate until December 4.

This opening weekend operations plan is subject to change due to weather and conditions. After this opening weekend, the mountain will close on Monday,ย with re-opening plans, dependent on weather and conditions, to be announced as soon as possible.
