Who’s 360s are smoother? John John’s from Bali or Eric Pollard’s from British Columbia?
There is something about a big, smooth 360º that sets certain athletes apart from the masses.
In the skiing world, everyone can throw a 3, but how many can take them big and keep them smooth? Not many.
In the surfing world, not many can throw 360ºs, very few can throw them big, and almost no one can throw them big & smooth.
John John Florence threw this huge, smooth-as-silk 360º at the Bali Pro World Tour stop two days ago. It got him a perfect 10 and rightly so. It looks like he’s on a static skate ramp with the board strapped to his feet.
Eric Pollard threw two 360º this past winter (:35 & 1:05) in British Columbia. One off a well formed backcountry booter and one off a natural cliff. Both were big, both smooth, both impressive. The off axis 3 off the booter is as smooth as it gets.
So, who’s 360s are smoother? John John’s from Bali or Eric Pollard’s from British Columbia?
(oh, and happy International Surfing Day!)
isnt the surfing 360 a 180?
Not even close. John blew him away! A 360 on skis is easy. Trying it on a surfboard that your feet are not attached to is extremely difficult.
Eric pollard, it wasn’t about which is harder it was about which is smoother so Eric dominateed at laying out smooth 360’s
kindov a flat spin 3, but a 3 nonetheless. Eric for the Win.
Eric. Watching that was like riding an amusement park ride
Snow is where the smoothness is and we’ve doing ‘em longer
Kinda tough to say due to the pov on eric. We can assume that he’s a pro and that he wasn’t rolling the windows down the entire three. John John’s is insane because that is ridiculously hard to do on a surfboard, there are so many factors involved in wave dynamics, and he does it in a world class surf comp.
Eric’s is huge and stupid smooth. But, given that John John didn’t have a perfect backcountry booter and deep pow to land it, I’ve gotta give it to John John.
