Last week changed everything in North America. ย Kirkwood, CA got 112″ of snow in 7 days,ย Mt. Bachelor, OR has gotten 108″ since Feb. 1st, Monarch Mountain, CO got 118″ in 2 weeks, Jackson Hole, WY got 101″ from the last storm cycle,ย Silverton Mountain, CO got 80″ in 7 days, and Revelstoke, B.C. just got 61″ in the past 7 days.
The big recent storms put the Pacific Northwest back on top of the snowpack numbers game where they usually reside.
What’s really shocking is that the east coast is putting up huge numbers right now. ย There are 2 ski resorts in North Carolina with over 100″ of snow and a spot in New York with 130″!
TOP 10 DEEPEST SNOWPACKS in NORTH AMERICA:

(we just had to add in numbers 11-13 as we love Jackson Hole and we’re blown away the North Carolina has so much snow!)
Places that had no snow that are now rockin’:
I have been following snow depths, all season, in the northern Rockies, Utah, the Cascades, and western Canada and only in the last 2 weeks(approx.) have any resorts surpassed Lost Trail, MT in snowpack. Right now Lost Trail is showing a base of 122″ but it is a more like 135″ in actuality.
One of the best ski years ever in my 60 + years of chasing powder!!!!
SNOWPACK not year total! And no way squaw has 60″ right now!
I don’t think it should count if it’s man-made snow (ahem, Hunter Mountain)
Jay peak has 200+ on the east coast
Jay Peak has 25-50″ snowpack, but 216″ total snowfall. Not sure about Mt. Baker’s current season total, but it had 1,140″ total in 98-99 season which is the world record for a resort.
The title should be “10 deepest snowpacks in the USA”. North America isn’t just the USA, and many of the resorts in Canada have much deeper snowpacks than the ones listed…
And yet still no mention of mt bohemia in Michigans UP. Makes me wonder where and more importantly WHO is getting the information.
I’m confused. Is this “packed” or “fallen”, the remarks suggest both.
Btw, if it refers to “fallen snow” Than
#MtBohemia Michigan, 231″ inches as of February 1st.
Kirkwood and Squaw aren’t even close to those numbers was just up there this weekend and they are in rough shape on the steeper sections like the wall.
Mt Baker leads the pack most yrs… One yr they had the most on record anywhere…over a thousand inches..
JL
Your numbers are completely wrong, Jackson Hole is pushing 300″ not 100 something. Bachelor is over 200″ as well
Hey J,
The numbers you’re referring to are season totals, this article is about snow depth. thanks.
yea.. thats just not correct. the bachelor season total is at 231, but its been consistently above freezing and at its deepest right now its no deeper than 140.
An educated guess would be that NC measured the deepest mound under a snow gun.
The Boone, NC area had a good bit of snow last week and have had low temperatures all winter so not much has melted. For the record, Boone is the highest county seat east of the Rockies, and App State Univ is the highest elevation football stadium east of the Rockies. To be this far south, Boone and points higher in the area get a lot of snow and it stays cold. Colder than most realize.
About 4-5 years ago the Boone area had more snow that winter than some cities in New York state that deal with lack effect snow. Maybe not Buffalo, NY amounts but still lots of snow.
That may be the exception and it runs in cycles, but Boone and the surrounding area can get some snow.
You should include White Pass, WA in your list.
It would be #2.
Ah, I love White Pass. I had a killer day hiking and skiing there once after they’d closed. My bad. Totally missed them. I’ll get ’em in there. thanks.
