Grand Targhee ski resort will be opening tomorrow, November 21st, 2014, and they have a Winter Storm Watch in effect for Saturday that is forecast to drop 8-14″ of new snow. ย A very solid opening weekend is on tap at Targhee.
It’s snowing lightly at Targheeย right now and they have a 19″ base and they’ve gotten 49″ of snow so far this year.
Targhee averages over 500″ of snow per year and there are nearlyย never lift lines. ย Good combo.

.A MOIST PACIFIC STORM SYSTEM WILL MOVE INTO SOUTHEAST IDAHO WITH
THE POTENTIAL FOR HEAVY MOUNTAIN SNOW BEGINNING FRIDAY NIGHT AND
CONTINUING THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING. A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL
ACCOMPANY THE SYSTEM AND EXPECT SOME STRONG WINDS BOTH AHEAD OF
AND BEHIND THE FRONT ON SATURDAY WHICH WILL LIKELY PRODUCE BLOWING
AND DRIFTING SNOW AS WELL ESPECIALLY OVER MOUNTAIN PASSES. SNOW
AMOUNTS OF 8 TO 14 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE ABOVE 5500 FEET WITH THIS
STORM. THERE IS THE CHANCE FOR A BRIEF PERIOD OF FREEZING RAIN IN
THE SNAKE RIVER PLAIN EARLY SATURDAY MORNING BUT WARMER
TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED AT LOWER ELEVATIONS WITH A CHANGE OVER
TO RAIN.
