World Cup skier & Squaw Valley local Travis Ganong went backcountry skiing on 10,775′ Mt. Rose today.

This is what he saw:

“(Conditions report: about 8-10 inches at the car at Mt. Rose summit, and 2.5 to 3.5 feet at the top of relay peak. The snow is really supportable and fun to ski but it is still early season so choose where you turn wisely. Everything above the 9500 foot level is 2.5+ feet deep settled base. If you go ski wear a helmet as rocks, logs, other hazards exist. Be safe and have fun out there!” – Travis Ganong, today

Ski season has officially begun in Lake Tahoe.

Mt. Rose ski resort on the Northeast shore of Lake Tahoe announced that they’ll be opening on October 31st, 2016 after receiving 7-18″ of new snow over the weekend.
