Lake Tahoe in California is currently over 1-foot above its natural rim!  In fact, the lake is 1.03-feet above its natural rim.  This means that the Truckee river is experiencing a decent flow for the first time in over a year and a half.

The last time the Truckee river had any appreciable flow from Lake Tahoe was in October 2014.

  1. I donโ€™t follow the significance of โ€˜natural rimโ€™. Iโ€™d also like to know the average height with the dam in place, if I understand.

    1. Natural rim = the lakeโ€™s natural rim without the influence of the dam in Tahoe City, CA. The dam can raise the lake up to 6โ€ฒ above its natural rim via 17 gates that can be open or closed. Currently only one gate is open. thanks
