Whistler B.C. Conditions Report: Killer Start to March

Classic Whistler powder day.

March is here and Whistler is looking great these days.  To start the month off right the weather man delivered 34cm of snow up top.  There was some wind with this snow so it built up to be a lot deeper in some areas and slimmer in others.  Some windblown areas had a thick wind slab layer that would be easy to hook up on, so if you are going fast be aware of that.

ruby Bowl
Had my first lap through Ruby Bowl which was very deep.
Spankeys
Looking up towards Diamond bowl in the afternoon. Still some fresh pockets to ride.

I mainly skied Blackcomb today and just lapped a lot Spankey’s and Glacier chair laps.  The morning was pretty unreal as visibility was good and everything was untracked.  Throughout the day though things started to warm up a little bit and get more fogged in.  I would say the snow was still fairly cold and light until the very bottom of Spankey’s however, by the end of the day Crystal chair and most things below tree line had heavy pow.

glacier
Glacier Chair was skied out pretty quickly, but even then the snow was soft.

It was an awesome day with lots of powder to ski, and it seems like there is a lot more on its way later this week.  Whistler has had over 900cm of snowfall this season so get out and enjoy it.

pow turns
A lot of fresh tracks today.
husume
Husume and Corona bowls only had a couple tracks through them around the end of the day.
