Whistler heli-ski guide Lisa Korthals died in an avalanche while guiding on Wednesday, March 28th, 2018 in the Whistler backcountry just outside the ski areaโs boundaries.
According to the Coronerโs Service, Lisa was killed when an avalanche trapped her at about 3pm on Thursday in the South Creek zone of Whistler Blackcombโs heli tenure near Pemberton.

Lisa was located by search and rescue crews, given first aid, then taken to the Whistler Medical Clinic where she was pronounced dead at 4:30pm on Thursday.
No one else on this tour was injured.

Lisa was 49-years-old and had living in Whistler/Pemberton for over 25 years. She was also a longtime heli-skiing guide and realtor in the Whistler area. She leaves behind a husband and son.
