According to the Lake Valley Fire Protection District, a man died at Heavenly Ski Resort, CA earlier this week after falling on an icy slope. On Wednesday, December 27th, 2017 a 49-year-old man was skiing on a steep icy unmarked trail when he fell.
As a result of the fall, the man suffered a traumatic head injury and ended up succumbing to those injuries. Firefighters were called to the scene and found the 49-year-old about 40 feet from the icy trail. Also, a woman suffered from a leg injury after spotting the injured man and attempting to climb down the steep icy slope to him. Firefighters and Heavenly Ski Patrol had to conduct a low-angle rescue using rope to reach the woman.
