Play, don’t practice. This mantra is one of 9 year-old Sky Brown’s favorites. Now a pro skater, the Miyazaki, Japan native began skating at the age of 2 and her love for the sport has been growing since then. Brown was the youngest girl to compete at Vans’ Professional Skateboarding Competition in 2016. Her biggest aspiration is to compete in the X-Games, but because of her age, she cannot yet compete. She does have her sights set on the Tokyo 2020 Olympics however, where skateboarding will make its Olympic debut. Sky’s hope is to inspire girls of all ages to be brave and strong, to try new things, and most of all, to enjoy the sport of skateboarding.
