Wow. 124″ of snow are forecast for Valle Nevado ski resort in Chile this weekend. Valle Nevado had nothing but brown dirt and rocks until 5 days ago. Now, they’re about to get dumped on and potentially be open with terrific conditions next week.
Maybe the whole “it’s gonna snow a ton this summer in South America” – El Nino thing is coming true…
It’s been so bad in northern Chile so far this winter that no ski resorts have opened up yet.
The snow is forecast to start today, get insane on Saturday and Sunday, then taper off on Monday into a clear week next week.
It’s forecast to stay cold during this storm keeping snow levels below the bottom of the ski resort.
The rest of Northern Chile is forecast to get dumped on as well.
