This past week the 10th annual RedBull Rampage went down outside of a small town in southern Utah called Virgin. This event truly is the most progressive actions sports competition in the world in this authorโs opinion. It literally pushes the laws of physics and what is possible on a mountain bike to a whole new level. Every year its gets bigger, faster, and gnarlier, this year was no different.
I volunteered to work the event back in 2013, when I was living in Utah and was rewarded with getting to ride the course the day after the pros were finished. I can say it was the most intense experience I have had on a bike hands down, and I didnโt even ride the super exposed lines.
This year saw one of the worst crashes in the history of the event and maybe ever on a mountain bike. Nicholi Rogatkin essentially crashed and tumbled off a 3rd story building. Not only did he get back on his bike and finish the course but absolutely went huge. Further proof as to why downhill mountain bikers are toughest of any athlete in the world.
