It’s May and the California winter is finally kicking in. ย Four storms are now forecast for California this week. ย One hits today in the North, another weak one tomorrow, then a stronger one on Thursday/Friday, and one more weaker one on Sunday. ย Long range forecasts are calling for more storms next week.
NOAA is talking about snow down to 5,500′ in Tahoe and Mammoth on Thursday night:
THURSDAY NIGHT, LIGHT SNOW COULD START TO AFFECT ROADS DOWN TO 5500 TO 6000 FEET INCLUDING THE TAHOE BASIN AND HIGHWAY 395 IN MONO COUNTY.
SNOW LEVELS FRIDAY MORNING WILL STILL BE FAIRLY LOW, AROUND 6500-7000 FEET WITH POTENTIAL IMPACTS TO THE SIERRA PASSES FOR THE FRIDAY MORNING COMMUTE.

More snowfall is expected with the snow level lowering to 6500 to 7000 at times. ย It would not surprise the Dweebs if another 6 to 12 inchesย fell over the crest by the end of this weekend.ย Some 3 to 6 inches is possible in town mainly Thursday AM through Friday AM and lingering into Friday. – MammothWeather.com
