Memorial Day Weekend was a great weekend for skiing & riding in North America. ย The Pacific Northwest had powder, Mammoth extended their season, Beartooth Basin opened for the season, Aspen reopened for the weekend, and the Jackson Hole Tram reopened.
If you still want it, itโs still open and itโs still good out there. ย We personally went to Mammoth over the weekend and it was 3,100-vertical feet of good corn skiing fun.
CLOSING DATES FOR SKI RESORTS IN N. AMERICA:
–ย Timberline, ORย = September
–ย Beartooth Basin, MT/WYย = July 13th
–ย Crystal Mountain, WAย = June 16th (weekends only)
–ย Arapahoe Basin, COย = June 2nd
–ย Mammoth, CAย = until Broadway melts out…
–ย Jackson Hole Tramย = ย until the snow runs outโฆ
Although we lost a few big ski resorts over the weekend, we also strangely gained a few. ย Ski season is still going strong in North America.
How is Jackson still open? Surprised, I thought they had to shut down April 4? Because of wildlife
Jackson reopens the tram every Memorial Day Weekend for summer activities. Skis and boards are allowed. You can access terrain, then you have to hike back up to the tram to get back down. Not a true opening, but certainly an opening for backcountry skiers. I called and talked to Jackson about the wildlife last year. Itโs a rumor. They close in April because thatโs when direct flights stop coming into Jackson Hole Airport from major cities in the usa.
Beartooth has snow forecasted all week
PNW hot pow was fun
