Alaska Airlines has introduced a new nonstop route between San Diego and Vail, Colorado, offering travelers a faster and more convenient option for accessing the Rocky Mountains. The service operates three times weeklyโMondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdaysโfrom San Diego International Airport (SAN) to Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE).
The flight reduces travel time significantly compared to the traditional route through Denver International Airport, which typically includes a three-hour shuttle ride. The new flight lasts approximately 1 hour and 54 minutes, followed by a 30-minute drive to Vail.
The seasonal route, running from December 20 to March 16, also includes direct flights from Seattle to Vail. Alaska Airlines announced the route caters to active travelers seeking an easy transition from Southern Californiaโs beaches to Coloradoโs ski slopes.
Vail, known for its expansive terrain and iconic Back Bowls, is one of the largest ski resorts in North America, offering more than 5,300 acres of skiable terrain. Alaska Airlines says the new route is part of its effort to create seamless connections between popular outdoor destinations.
