Alta Ski Area, located at the end of Little Cottonwood Canyon near Salt Lake City, will open for the 2024-25 winter season tomorrow, Friday, November 22 with limited terrain. Collins Gultch will be available for skiers via the Collins and Wildcat chairs.
The resort announced on social media that it recommends expert skiers only given the current conditions and that grooming will be limited. Chairs will begin spinning at 10 a.m. Friday. Parking reservations will not be required on Opening Day but will be required starting December 13th.
Since October, Alta has received 59 inches of snowfall and currently has a 23-inch base. Heavy snowfall is forecast through the weekend into next week as an atmospheric river impacts much of the West. It looks like Alta is off to a strong start to the winter as the Wasatch opens for business.
