Driving up to Alta on Saturday, I had low expectations. It had gotten warm on Friday so I expected bulletproof in the morning, and some spring slush and corn in the afternoon. Boy was I wrong. Our first few laps on the groomers were amazing. The snow was groomed into perfect corduroy and had the perfect consistency.
Alta’s Base Depth: 106″, Season Snowfall: 384″ย
The snow in the shade was still chalky and wintery to my surprise and we had some good runs on Supreme and Sugarloaf chairs. By mid day, we made our way over to Wildcat and found some really fun slush bumps and corn skiing under the chair. By now it was getting warm and the jackets were coming off. There was a couple large kickers built around Wildcat and the bros were going big. I saw some nice laid out backflips and spinny things.
All in all, it was a great day at Alta that far exceeded my expectations. The morning plan was to ski till 12 or 1 and hit the road. We skied till 3. Until next time Utah!
