Report from November 2, 2023
Yesterday, I hiked back up 11,000′ Mt. Baldy at Alta, UT to ski the legendary Main Chute once again.
Ski day #275 of “The 300 Project.”
The entrance is getting very steep and dirty…
I took it as a good omen that a cirrus cloud rainbow appeared above Main Chute just after I’d exited it.
I skied Main Chute 2-days ago as well.
I’ll also be skiing it each of the next 3 days adding up to 5 Main Chutes in a row.
Why?
Because there ain’t much else available around here right now…
Main Chute is also great because you can ski right back to the parking lot currently.
Main Chute is skiing well right now but the entrance is steep, dirty, and spicy.
The chute itself is skiing chalky and fun but you have to constantly be looking out for the peppery rocks that are abundant in the chute.

The grind is on…
Right now the plan is to continue grinding out Main Chutes for 3 more days then head down to Mexico for a family reunion for 5 days for some R&R.
I’ll then be back in Utah to continue to grind on November 11 and hopefully, it’ll have snowed by then.
If not, it might be more of the same.
Daily doses of Main Chute until the ski resorts open and make my life much easier…
Rumor is that Solitude might open on November 17.
Hope that comes true.
“The 300 Project” is really making me work for it here at the end…
Thanks for letting us ski here, Alta!
Thanks, Utah!
