To look upon it, one wouldn’t have thought it, but Alyeska Resort skied AWESOME today. The mat-white cap to a Friday otherwise characterized by fluctuating cloud lent a somewhat flat (if not all out blind) first impression to Alaska’s premier ski area, but be not fooled.
The smoke layer ranged like a Dall Sheep across Mount Alyeska faces; there one minute but gone the next, revealing all too grip-able and rip-able snow On as well as Off Piste.
Skiing proved as aggressive as it was rewarding, mountain-wide. North Face (top to bottom), High Traverse, and Chilkoot Knoll were open, and while well-skied no less skied well.
Today’s skiing was a gift, wrapped in plain white whisps.
This is Paulie at Girdwood advising: grab the clear lense and SKI!
